Lu Michaela is a multidisciplinary Manchester-based artist specialising in photography, graphic design and sound. Inspired by nostalgia, otherworldliness, and intersections between digital and natural worlds, they strive to create delicate, immersive work, bringing stories and identities to life.

After finding an eye for photography in childhood, Lu developed a budding fascination with the interplay between light and shadow, especially its ability to appear to glow when balanced delicately. Their work has since evolved with the ambition to capture the beauty of the every day as if it were plucked out of a dream sequence within a film.

Their design and sound work begins from a similar perspective, often overlapping with their cinematic eye, referencing elements from early 2000s WEB 1.0 nostalgia, as well as interweaving a deep-rooted passion for sound, often blending field recordings and electronic production. Put together, these elements blend together to create an eerie yet ethereal experience distinct to their work - a swirling concoction which once again sits at the intersection of digital and natural.
